The Reset Year: Repricing Canada's Climate Markets
Canada's climate markets are being rebuilt in real time. The Canada–Alberta MOU has reshaped industrial carbon pricing – introducing a TIER credit floor price and a trajectory to 2040 – while the federal OBPS benchmark undergoes its first full review. Québec has tabled its biggest cap-and-trade reforms since launch. The CFR is being amended for the first time, backed by new biofuel production incentives, and BC is rethinking the LCFS. All against US trade disruption, the EU CBAM now in force, and a national push to diversify exports.
No policy can be understood in isolation anymore. Carbon pricing, clean fuels, offsets, CDR, methane, disclosure, and trade are converging into one interconnected climate economy – and 2026 will set its rules for the decade ahead.
CFCM returns to Toronto for its third edition at precisely this moment, convening data- and modelling-led dialogues across two tracks:
Clean Fuels in Canada – the amended CFR and its impact on credit supply, demand, and pricing; BC LCFS reforms and credit stacking; RD and biodiesel economics under new incentives and shifting US policy; SAF as a compliance and investment opportunity; electricity in transportation; and feedstock and cross-border trade dynamics.
Climate Markets in Canada – TIER reforms under the Canada–Alberta Implementation Agreement; the OBPS benchmark review and provincial alignment; Québec's cap-and-trade overhaul and market linkage; offset markets; scaling CDR in Canada; methane equivalency; CBAM and competitiveness; disclosure requirements; and the practical hurdles of financing low-carbon projects.
CFCM 2026 will convene 350+ policymakers, regulators, investors, regulated entities, fuel suppliers, project developers, and market experts. Grounded in data and shaped by modelling, the Summit cuts through the noise to identify the hard signals: where prices are heading, where capital is flowing, and where the rules are being written.
