Jacob is Co-Chair of Osler’s national Energy Group and provides trusted, strategic counsel on Canadian major projects, specializing in electricity infrastructure development, carbon finance and Canada’s transition to a low-carbon economy. His practice focuses on all corporate and commercial aspects of electricity projects, specializing in energy and environmental commodity offtake agreements, procurement, development, finance, investment tax credits, construction and M&A matters relating to electricity generation, storage, distribution and transmission projects.

Jacob is experienced in various emissions trading, carbon credit, clean fuels and renewable energy markets and associated regulations and voluntary frameworks across Canada and internationally. He is also active in Osler’s Derivatives practice group, focusing on regulatory matters relating to trading and marketplace activities for commodities and derivatives products that are frequently the output of or a critical revenue component of the energy projects he supports.

Jacob has served as a director of the Canadian Solar Industries Association and regularly acts for owners, lenders, off-takers and other stakeholders on renewable energy, battery storage, carbon capture, biofuels, hydrogen, electric vehicles and other electricity-sector and energy transition projects across Canada.
