Tyson is a partner and Torys LLP, leads the firm’s Climate Change Practice and co-chairs the firm’s Sustainability Practice. He has advised on many of North America’s largest energy transition projects, including on the development and permitting of more than 50 wind, solar, gas, hydro and energy storage projects, as well as on major DAC, CCS and other carbon management projects. Tyson also has decades of experience in the carbon markets, having worked on some of the country's earliest carbon offset deals. He has negotiated spot, forward and long-term offtake transactions in every major North American compliance market and voluntary standard. As a co-leader of the firm's Sustainability Practice, Tyson also regularly advises on high-stakes, reputationally sensitive ESG issues for major financial institutions, pension funds, asset managers and energy and resource companies. He is helping some of the country's largest companies in developing their strategies to achieve net zero GHG emissions and advising them on their climate-related disclosures to mitigate greenwashing risks.
